I had a great time doing head shot shoots for two local actors. It’s fun to create images that break from the traditional “what mom will hang on the wall”, shot. Though of course we did get some pics that I’m positive that mom WILL want to hang on the wall! Even with the industry moving towards online portfolios and personal pages, comp cards are still a fantastic way to present a tangible representation of you and your work. Each year, our family heads out to Sneads Asparagus Farm to pick pumpkins, buy hay bales and play on the rope swing. It is an amazingly beautiful location, and run by the nicest folks. Definitely head on out there if you are looking for a fun fall activity.

But it was a great day. Perfect weather, we met lots of great and interesting people! Got to talk about photography and even where to buy shoes when you’ve got big feet! (I wear a size twelve… it’s OK, you can feel sorry for me!) Fall in Virginia is the perfect time for portraits. The air is cool and crisp, the colours are stunning. But since the trees are starting to turn, we are on a race with the calendar. A gorgeous day with absolutely perfect weather for the first annual F.A.S.T (fight against sex trafficking). The worship band from Common Ground Church played a small concert, though I was disappointed that they wouldn’t honor my request for Free Bird!

and who could resist a stop at the farmer’s market… held Saturday mornings at Hurkamp Park?
she had a budget of $10, came back with a cantaloupe, potatoes, tomatoes, a bell pepper and change!
for fields of gold. We found this gorgeous field of gold flowers. If you would like to have a session in the flowers, I would bet we’ve got a week or maybe even less with them still in full bloom. Aren’t they simply divine?
